Of all the motorcycle accessories, a motorcycle GPS mount is one of the most important. Let’s have a look at the various benefits. No matter what kind of motorcycle you ride, there are instances where you will find yourself lost, or needing to get to a location that you have no idea how to get to. A GPS device is what most people use nowadays for finding their way, but you may be asking how you can use this device on a motorcycle. Well, it is actually quite simple with a motorcycle GPS mount.

The motorcycle GPS mount is a simple holder for your GPS device, such as the Garmin, TomTom, SPOT II, Lowrance Endura and many others. RAM is one of the most popular motorcycle GPS mounts, with models to fit almost all GPS devices like the RAM-B-180U Double Ball Motorcycle Mount with Angled Base. They are also completely shock absorbent, lightweight, and easily adjusted for ease of use, and are endorsed by many GPS manufacturers including Garmin, TomTom, Rockwell, Allied Signal, Skyforce Avionics, VDO, and Northstar Technologies just to name a few.

Motorcycle GPS Mount

These motorcycle GPS mount options are cradles which will snugly and securely hold your GPS so that you can use it with confidence while you are riding your motorcycle in any location. They can be secured by a screw down aluminum plate mount, a suction flex cup on an arm, an adhesive snap-link mount, handlebar bracket mount, and other means.

The best thing about getting a motorcycle GPS mount is that you will feel safe and secure riding around the city or countryside, knowing that you always have your trusty GPS device with you so that you will never get lost. You can also find the fastest and easiest route to where you want to go, so that you save time and gas as well.

Aside from the RAM makes, you can also get specific GPS manufacturer makes for certain motorcycles such as the Garmin Handlebar Mount Bracket for the GPS 12 Series. This item fits onto any 1 inch diameter handlebar and comes with all the hardware and instructions so that you can fit it easily.

You can also get a great motorcycle GPS mount for the TomTom which has a hardwire charger cable as well, making it simple to use and convenient when you are going on long rides and motorcycle runs. This cable attaches to the USB port just like a car charger.

When you go about choosing the ideal motorcycle GPS mount, you will have to look at the type of GPS device you have first of all, and then you should check out some options based on the kind of motorcycle you own. You might find that a handlebar mount is easier for you to use, but some people prefer the double ball mounting system. It all depends on where you want to use the GPS, if it is for everyday use or just for long trips. Once you find the ideal motorcycle GPS mount, you should go ahead and get it, so that you can take advantage of the great benefits of having your GPS device on hand when riding your motorcycle.

There are many different options for you to choose from when you are looking for Garmin motorcycle GPS devices, and this is why it is important for you to look at all of your options and decide what will be best for you to use.

There are many different options for you to choose from when you are looking for Garmin motorcycle GPS devices, and this is why it is important for you to look at all of your options and decide what will be best for you to use. Garmin is known for its wide range of GPS systems that they sell and they are in fact the best selling manufacturer of such items in the world. They are a trusted company who have been in the industry for years; therefore customers will keep on going back to them and recommending others to make use of their services too.

Garmin Motorcycle GPS

There are many benefits to owning one of the Garmin motorcycle GPS devices, although they do not all encompass these features, a large variety of them do and just a few of these wonderful benefits include; Automatic Route Calculation which means that if you accidentally miss your turn, there will be a new route calculated onto your device automatically from your current location. Some units come with the locations of ATM’s, restaurants, gas stations, emergency services, etc already programmed into it for your convenience. There are almost six million locations pre-loaded onto some of the Garmin motorcycle GPS units, so be sure to look out for one of those when you are shopping for your GPS.

What many people also love about the Garmin motorcycle GPS devices is that the directions it gives you are voice prompted so you don’t have to look at the device while you are driving as this can be quite dangerous; all you have to do is listen to where you have to go. Many of the units also have street maps that are extremely detailed and easy to read which is convenient too. Although this isn’t something you would want to do, some units are water resistant to an extent where they can remain under water for thirty minutes before any damage is done to the device.

To give you a bit of an idea of what you are looking at when you want to purchase a good Garmin motorcycle GPS, some of the best ones on the market today include the Zūmo 550, Quest, Quest 2, StreetPilot 2730, StreetPilot 2720, StreetPilot 2820 and many more. When you look at the devices, think of the features you need the most and the features that are not important to you. You don’t want to spend a great deal of money on the most amazing GPS in the world when you are not even going to use half of the features it possesses. Take your time to research and find the GPS that will be cost effective, but also useful and serve its purpose.

It is advised that you do your research and even purchasing this device online. The reason for this is because then you will easily be able to compare prices and product features and easily work out which one of the Garmin motorcycle GPS systems will be best for you to use when you are out on the road and need a little navigation assistance.

Garmin StreetPilot 2610 and 2620 Motorcycle Mounts are available from a number of online retailers, those who purchase these mounts also purchase the Garmin 2610 Motorcycle Power Cable and Audio Cable which will keep you covered on those longer trips, the deluxe Carry Case for the StreetPilot & GPS Map, Garmin GXM30 XM Satellite Antenna for GPSMap 376C, 7200 and 7500 and the Garmin External Speaker with Adapter.

The Garmin Motorcycle Mount for the StreetPilot 2610 & 2620 is available for a cost of about $28 and includes the following, Mounting Bracket, power/Audio wiring and all required nuts and screws. NOTE: REVIEWS SAY THAT THIS IS NOT ALL YOU NEED, YOU MUST ALSO GET A RAM MOUNT TO COMPLETE THE HOOK UP

Dimesions: 6 x 6 x 3.5 Inches and Weighs 1 Pound

Model Number: 010 10495 00

______________

Some of the review we managed to find for the Garmin 2610 Motorcycle Mount

This is just a mounting kit… It needs a 3rd party “cell phone” mount to actually attach to your motorcycle. Very disappointed that I have to order something *else* in addition to this “kit”After getting a RAM mount (from somewhere else, I don’t think Amazon sells them), this did mount easily and quickly to my bike, just be aware, that you need a RAM mount in addition to this kit, which is really just a connection from a RAM mount to the garmin device

I purchased this mounting kit to quickly attach my gps to my Harley Davidson for travel. The kit is misleading as a “mounting kit”. It does hold the unit somewhat securely, although i have added extra protection to prevent detachment from the bracket during tra vel. It does not have the hardware needed to attach to the handle bars. Therefore additional products must be purch ased. What is called a “ram kit” which is sold at other vendors online is required. costs are about $35 to $50 bucks. I felt deceived when i purchased it as a “mounting kit” and was unable to initial ly mount it to my bike.

This is really not a mounting kit so much as it is a cradle for the 2610. I went crazy trying to find a ram kit, so I could actually mount this t hing on my motorcycle. The Garmin instructions aren’t helpful in this regard but I finally found a 2.5″ round plate with a 1″ ball attached which would fit the Garmin backing plate. The popular diamond plate won’t fit. I actually had to get hold of a schematic of the part to match it up. Problem solved. But this whole process should have been more customer friendly. The 2610 is a gr eat product, but if you’re not a techie, you might want to consider buying some of there mount package specific to the 2610.

There are various mounts for the Garmin Nuvi, so please be sure before you make your purchase in particular do not buy the Motorcycle / Bike Mount for Garmin Nuvi from the online retailers, there seems to be a problem with this unit and has very low reviews, the most common complain about this unit is that it works with the Ball Joint mount you received with your Nuvi but the problem is that this ball joint mount is not tight enough and many people have complained about their Nuvi jumping out the mount when you hit a bump and if you have not using a hard charger wire you could very lightly loose your Nuvi to the tar…

There are however some good Garmin Nuvi Motorcycle Mounts on the market and we will talk about these rather..

We have heard a lot of people talking about the RAM mounts, these mounts are normally the cradle type which fit to both Motorcycles and Bike, these Garmin Nuvi Motorcycle Mounts seem to be the preferred mounts amongst many.

These Motorcycle Mounts will fit Motorcycles, Bicycles, ATV’s or Boats and have the swivel action that you need to position your Garmin for easy viewing.

Some of the Technical Details:

Designs: Sleek and Strong construction for heavy operation

Fits on handlebars up to 1 inch in diameter ( from 0.5″ to 1″ inches)

Material: Powder Coated Marine Grade Aluminum

1 Inch Rubber Ball

Color: Black Powder Coat

The Garmin Portable Friction Mount is the top selling mount for most Garmins, this portable friction mount has been ranked #1 selling product in the category “Mounts” and “Vehicle Mounts”, the Garmin Friction Mount is by far the best solution for a non permanent mount of your Garmin in your vehicle.

With 1000′s of units sold in the last year there are also 1000′s of reviews on the friction mount, below is a sample of what people are saying about the Garmin Portable Friction Mount…

- My car has a rough dashboard and a sharp sloping windshield so the normal suction cup solution does not work, I got a Garmin Portable Friction Mount and it works perfectly in both my cars, a great solution

- The Garmin Friction Mount works great, all the different mount options available on the market are confusing but with this mount I just use the mount I received when I purchased my NUVI and removed it at the ball join and connected it to the friction mount and it works great

- After buying a Garmin Nuvi 350 I was hesitant to get a portable friction mount but gave it a try and it works great, I travel quite a lot and keep my Garmin Portable Friction Mount with me at all times.

While working through all the reviews we picked up on a tip which may interest you.

TIP..

Mount your Garmin on your motorcycle and you will never have to ask for directions again, get all the info and best deals right now...

So you got a Garmin and need to find a way to mount it to your motorcycle. No problem. The people at Garmin have been good enough to design a range of Garmin Motorcycle Mount for just about every type of Garmin.

We can go through all the models on this site but what we have tried to achieve is a listing of the main motorcycle mounts for the various ranges.

Garmin Edge Motorcycle Mount

Garmin Edge has mounts for both motorcycle’s and ATV’s. There are two main types, the basic kind of disposable option which is simply held onto your motorcycle handelbars with tie straps, you may go through a couple so buy a few at a time. The second option is a more comprehensive model, this mount has a cradle to hold your Garmin Edge and is secured to your handlebar with a clamp… the basic unit costs around $12 and the cradle unit you can expect to pay about $17.

For the price difference, I would get the more substantial mount and feel safe that my Garmin will be OK while on or off the road.

Garmin eTrex Motorcycle Mount

Many variations are available for the Garmin eTrex range, they range by model number and by mount options, you get the standard handlebar mount, Brake Reservoir Mount etc, there is also the option to get a hardwire and mount combo which will be ideal for the longer trips where you may need to recharge your Garmin eTrex. Pricing on the various garmin mounts range from about $16 for a basic handlebar mount to about $45 for a twist & Tilt mount.

Garmin GPSMAP Motorcycle Mount

Once again, regardless of your Garmin type there is a mount available. In this range you have the options of a basic motorcycle handlebar mount, the handlebar mount with Twist and Tilt function and the clutch mount. on the low side of the price bracket you can get the basic mount which is about $13 or you can go for the high end Twist and Tilt option… which is what we would recommend as one position does not fit all, on the standard mounts there is only one position which means that if you a tall rider you may not get a good view or if you ride a super bike you may not see as well as someone who is on a Harley in a laid back position, Also depending on your speed also dictates your ride position and you would want to adjust the display view as needed.

Garmin Nuvi Motorcycle Mount

By far the range not only in Garmin models but also in Motorcycle mounts, it would appear if you are someone who likes options then you need to invest in a Nuvi best suited to your needs and be confident that Garmin has the ideal motorcycle mount for you, just some of the mounts include…

- Standard Handle bar mount
- Garmin Nuvi Clutch Mount
- Mirror Frame Mount
- Threaded Post Mount
- Fork Stem Base Mount
- Ez-On/Off Mount
- WEATHERPROOF Handlebar Mount
- WEATHERPROOF Clutch Mount
- Twist & Tilt Mount

Garmin Streetpilot Motorcycle Mount

A less popular mount but never the less available from online retailers across the world, look around for the best options. For this range we have the classic garmin motorcycle handlebar mount, using a ball pivot system for easy click on/off and adjustment. You could also include a Hardwire Power Adapter Cable for the longer trips and weekends away.

I hope we have provided some valuable data on the range of Garmin Motorcycle Mounts, there are a number of retailers online who could have your Garmin mounted on your Motorcycle in no time at all so get your motorcycle mount now.
